Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) is pleased to offer a unique ten-week training course for community clergy and lay persons who are interested in learning about effective ministry to the sick and/or becoming volunteer clergy at PRMC.
The classes, taught by Reverend Rich Walton, M.Div., will provide an overview of PRMC’s volunteer chaplaincy program and offer an introduction to hospital-based ministry. Students will share in group and individual supervision as part of the education experience and will visit will patients. A certificate of appreciation will be offered at the conclusion of the course. The training provided is the first step for possible volunteer chaplaincy at PRMC, and will open other options for additional training and participation in the PRMC PLUS Volunteer program.
Classes will be held at Peninsula Regional Medical Center starting on Tuesday, March 25 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The three hour class sessions will continue each Tuesday evening for ten weeks, with a spring break occurring during Easter week. There is a $100 fee which covers handouts, the course textbook, snacks and a graduation dinner.
Interested community clergy and lay persons may contact Joyce LeCates or Debra Musser in the PRMC Pastoral Care office at 410-543-7202 for application information or to have questions answered.
