Cancer patients should use Vine Street to access the campus for care

As Peninsula Regional Medical Center continues its effort to enhance safety on the campus, it today announces the permanent closing of the South Salisbury Boulevard/Business Route 13 entrance into the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute.

Patients should enter the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute by turning at the traffic light on Business Route 13 and Vine Street (at the Exxon gas station). Proceed approximately 200 feet and take the first right at the tall PRMC directional sign. Then, take an immediate right into the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute parking lot. Patients may park themselves or use valet services that will still be available at the entry doors.

“As we continue to examine the safest ways to get people onto and off of our properties, we will be looking for additional opportunities like this,” added Bo Kennedy, Chief of Special Police and Assistant Director of Facilities and Properties at PRMC. “The light at Vine Street provides a much safer option to enter our campus and cancer institute than having traffic turning across or exiting onto a stretch of South Salisbury Boulevard that has tens of thousands of cars traveling it every day.”

State Highway Administration crews will be assisting PRMC to extend the existing sidewalk across the former entrance as part of the storm drain and roadway improvement project currently underway.
