Salisbury, MD – On November 6, 2020, The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) partnered with Chesapeake Utilities to present a webinar on Chesapeake Utilities’ proposed natural gas service extension to Somerset County.

Attendees heard updates on the general scope, timeline, and benefits of the project which will initially provide natural gas service to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in Princess Anne, Maryland, and Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI) in Westover, Maryland in the third quarter of 2021. Converting to natural gas will enable each institution to reduce its overall energy costs and improve its environmental profile. In addition, the project will provide homes and businesses in Somerset County, one of only three counties in Maryland without access to natural gas, an environmentally friendly, socially conscious, and efficient energy choice.

Learn more about how the project will support environmentally conscious economic growth and help local residents, farmers, businesses, and industry by visiting SomersetNaturalGas.com.
