Public Art Master Plan Process Kicks Off in Salisbury, MD

Public Art Convo FB March 29, 2022

Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District, in partnership with the City of Salisbury, is pleased to announce the first phase of a Public Art Master Planning process is kicking off in Downtown Salisbury this month, and the public is invited to participate. The Public Art Master Plan process will begin with a Public Art Community Conversation. The Community Conversation will be designed as a rapid-fire, open-mic style forum for the community to talk about their ideas and experiences with public art, including ideas, aspirations, likes and dislikes, and is a safe space to get creative and throw ideas around.

The Public Art Community Conversation event will be held on March 29, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Revival, Downtown Salisbury’s newest entertainment venue, located on the 3rd Floor of the City Center Building off Main Street. The event will include a 30-minute period to mingle & enjoy light fare before the conversation begins at 5:30 p.m. hosted by Mayor Jacob Day, and Public Art Master Plan Consultant Todd Bressi, of Artful Places. The event is free and open to the public, and will be the first of many opportunities to participate.

Public Art Master Planning Consultant Todd Bressi of Artful Places has been retained to spend the next 9 months developing a Public Art Master Plan with the citizens of Salisbury. The Master Planning process will include multiple trips, events and input sessions, with opportunities for groups of all kinds to host input sessions of their own. The process will culminate with a written plan to help guide the City of Salisbury into the future, to help determine funding strategies, priority areas and projects, and best practices. The Public Art Master Planning process was funded in part by contributions from The City of Salisbury, Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District, and a grant from the Chaney Enterprises Foundation Fund.
