Salisbury, MD (September 23, 2024) — Throughout the month of October, Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County (HFHWC) ReStore customers will be encouraged to purchase a “brick” to place on the stores’ Veteran Wall to honor someone in their life who serves or has served. The Wall of Honor is a continuation of Habitat’s “Season of Service” dedication to recognize veterans, active military personnel, and their families through December. Shoppers and donors are welcome to stop into the Fruitland or Salisbury ReStore thrift shop to purchase a $5 “brick” to display in the store. Funding received from Veteran Wall donations will be used to support critical home repairs for Veterans in Wicomico and Somerset Counties.
In Fiscal year 2023, HFHWC completed 11 critical repairs and aging in place modifications for Veterans and Veteran families. This year, as part of HFHWC’s expanded commitment to serving and honoring Veterans, HFHWC will host veterans, veteran advocates, community leaders, and government officials in a community roundtable luncheon to discuss key needs of the veteran community and means by which the community can come together to address them. This luncheon will take place on November 13.
Individuals and organizations wishing to participate in the Veteran Roundtable are asked to call Habitat at 410-546-1551 or email karen@wicomicohabitat.org.
