Salisbury, MD — The Salisbury School (TSS) invites the TSS community to a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, celebrating the completion of a $1.2 million renovation of its Lower School, the first meaningful updates to the building since the school’s founding in 1970. The Lower School reveal begins at 4:00 PM, followed by the ribbon cutting at 4:15 PM, as part of the school’s Open House and All-School Picnic. Alumni, current students and families, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend.
The Campaign for the Lower School has raised more than $811,000 to date, driven by the generosity of TSS alumni, families, and longtime community supporters. The renovation preserves the Lower School’s original character while refreshing classrooms, the library, the art barn, the tunnel, and other shared spaces, honoring the building’s intentional design while creating environments that better serve today’s learners.
“This campaign represents an important investment in the future of our school and in the students we are privileged to serve,” said Gil Allen, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “It reflects a clear and ambitious vision — to ensure our facilities support the way students will learn, grow, and lead for generations to come.”
Named spaces in the renovated building reflect deep community ties to TSS, including the Library honoring longtime school librarian Mrs. Margy Meeks, the Art Barn sponsored by Casey and Chris Smith (’95) in honor of TSS’s founders, and the Tunnel sponsored by Chris (’01) and Chrissy Perdue, whose children now attend the school. Naming opportunities, including classrooms and the science wing, remain available.
