Salisbury, MD – Salisbury University’s Dave and Patsy Rommel Center for Entrepreneurship hosts two “IP Unplugged” workshops 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday-Friday, April 27-28.
Led by Michelle Leveque, founder and intellectual property (IP) attorney at Leveque Intellectual Property Law, P.C., the workshops are intended for entrepreneurs, small business owners and others interested in learning more about IP and its importance in today’s business world.
“Intellectual property is a vital asset for any business, yet it is often overlooked or misunderstood,” said Bryan Bourdeau, Rommel Center assistant director. “The workshops are designed to provide attendees with an immersive understanding of intellectual property and its potential impact on their businesses.”
Thursday topics include a general overview of, and myths about, IP. Friday topics include opportunities, pros and cons of IP; and IP for startups and established businesses. Questions submitted by attendees in advance will be answered both days.
Leveque addresses questions regarding what types of IP (products, services, processes technologies, formulas, brands, logos, designs, photos, music, customer data, business information and more) to protect and how to protect it. She also delves into the differences between provisional, design and utility patents; as well as information on trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets.
Sponsored by the Rommel Center and SU’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, admission is free and the public is invited. Seating is limited, and advance registration is recommended. To register, visit the Rommel Center website.
The Rommel Center is located at SU Downtown, 123 Camden St. Parking is available in Salisbury City Parking Lot 1, free with validation from the center.
