Salisbury, MD — Ron’Sha Cornish, certified nursing assistant (CNA) on patient care floor 3 East, has been selected as TidalHealth Peninsula Regional’s August 2024 Sunshine Award recipient for her professionalism, kindness, and compassion.
She received two nominations from both a patient’s wife (a former physician) and a peer on the unit.
From a patient’s wife and physician: From the moment she walked onto the floor until the end of her tour of duty (three shifts in a row), Ron’Sha was a ray of sunshine, always smiling, a lovely lift to her voice, offering to help, and finding ways to help without being asked. I am a retired physician who worked here for 15 years and Ron’Sha is the kindest, most helpful, and most competent CNA that I can recall.
From her fellow healthcare team member: Recently, we had a homeless patient on 3 East. Ron’Sha noticed that the only pants that the man had were a pair of blue jeans.
With it being the middle of July, she was worried about how the patient would make out in the heat after being discharged. Ron’Sha went out of her way to find the patient’s correct sizing and purchase him a new pair of shorts, underwear, and shoes.
Whether it’s making sure her patients are turned every two hours, going above and beyond for them or ensuring patients have weather appropriate clothing, Ron’Sha always goes out of her way to help her patients.
She is truly a pleasure to work with and always does her best to make a difference for her patients.
Cornish was honored in a ceremony before her coworkers and presented with fresh flowers, a pin and a certificate recognizing her exceptional devotion to team and patient care.
