Once again, Salisbury-area Rotarians have stepped forward to raise money for the Christian Shelter as it struggles to pay its operating expenses. More than $15,000 were donated to assist the shelter in offering a safe refuge for individuals and families experiencing homelessness and that are in a crisis situation.
The Rotary Club of Salisbury’s team of bicycle riders successfully completed a metric century (63 mile) course to raise much needed money from fellow club members, members of the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club, and friends.
The five cyclists were Rotary Club of Salisbury members Dan Williams, David Downes, and Gus Lebois plus Elizabeth Burke and Maureen Williams. Due to weather concerns as well as concerns about riding with thousands of other cyclists in Salisbury University’s Sea Gull Century Bike Tour, the Rotary team decided to forgo the expense of registering for the Sea Gull Century Bike Tour and instead donate the entrance fee to the Christian Shelter and then do its own metric century ride.
This Rotary Club of Salisbury project is just one way in which the club raises nearly $100,000 annually for donation to worthwhile community service organizations.
