SACC Celebrates Glass Half Full’s Salisbury Studio

Ribbon Cutting for Glass Half Full (1)

Salisbury, MD – On November 5, members of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC), local residents, friends, and family gathered to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of Glass Half Full’s new glassblowing studio in Salisbury, Maryland.

The beautiful fall afternoon provided the perfect backdrop for a festive community celebration as co-owner Shawn Harrison and Resident Glass Artist Eli Cecil welcomed guests into the studio’s creative new space. Attendees enjoyed live glassblowing demonstrations showcasing the artistry and skill behind the craft, along with live music, pumpkin decorating, cornhole, delicious refreshments from Playa Bowls, and unique handcrafted glass door prizes created by Eli. Seasonal décor provided by Harris Farm Markets added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked an exciting milestone for Glass Half Full as it officially opens its doors as Salisbury’s only dedicated glassblowing studio. The event highlighted the studio’s mission to bring the art of glassmaking to the Eastern Shore and provide opportunities for individuals of all ages and experience levels to explore their creativity through hands-on experiences.

Born and raised on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Eli Cecil first discovered his passion for glass while studying at Salisbury University, where an introductory glassblowing course sparked what would become a lifelong pursuit. Following graduation, Cecil relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida, where he immersed himself in a vibrant community of contemporary glass artists and further developed his craft.

“I’ve traveled across the country and internationally, but I always felt that Salisbury deserved the opportunity to experience this incredible art form,” said Cecil. “That’s what brought me back home. My family is here, the community is here, and the people are amazing. Seeing the support and enthusiasm at this ribbon cutting is a testament to how special this area is. We are excited to share glassblowing with the community through classes, private events, and our mobile glassblowing studio. We also invite everyone to shop local this holiday season with our handmade glass pumpkins, snowmen, gift certificates for classes, and much more.”

As the only studio of its kind in Salisbury, Glass Half Full is making glass art more accessible across the Eastern Shore. Through hands-on glassblowing classes, workshops, demonstrations, private events, and exhibitions, the studio fosters creativity, connection, and community while introducing participants to the transformative craft of glassmaking.

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates Glass Half Full on the opening of its new studio and welcomes its continued contributions to the region’s growing arts and cultural community.
