The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce proudly joined Spice Bazaar on January 29 to celebrate the international grocery store’s one‑year anniversary with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The event brought together Chamber members, community partners, and local residents to recognize the success of this women‑owned business, which has quickly become a cultural hub in Salisbury.
Co‑owners Jayati Basumallik, Brinda Nandi, and Kiran Dixit warmly welcomed attendees, guided guests through the store, answered questions about specialty products, and shared the inspiration behind bringing authentic South Asian flavors to the Eastern Shore.
Jayati shared: “what an exciting and fruitful journey it has been. We’ve worked incredibly hard to make it through the storms, and we’re still standing because of your support. Truly, thank you!”
Since opening, Spice Bazaar has grown steadily, offering an expanding selection of South Asian groceries, frozen foods, ethnic snacks, gluten‑free and vegetarian options, fresh produce, desserts, and more. While much of their inventory is sourced from India, the owners have made it a priority to serve Salisbury’s diverse community by incorporating products from other cultural groups throughout the region. Their mission is to educate customers about the health benefits, traditions, and culinary uses of the spices and foods they carry.
Guests enjoyed a variety of traditional foods, including chicken and paneer momo, chicken biryani, corn spicy nuggets, chai tea, and other delicacies. Several attendees also took home gift baskets filled with store favorites.
Spice Bazaar is located at 1015 S. Salisbury Blvd. Community members are encouraged to stop by, explore new flavors, and follow the store on Facebook for product updates and announcements.
