Salisbury, MD – August 13, 2021 – For its 18th year, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce will welcome Salisbury University, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and Wor-Wic Community College students to Delmarva with its College Welcome Program.

The College Welcome Program was initiated in 2004 by Stephanie Willey, SACC Past-President, as an effort to encourage positive relationships between our local college students and the business community.

“Our universities are powerful economic contributors to our local economy. Encouraging our students to shop and eat locally is good for the business community, and we want to encourage graduates to stay in our community after they finish their education. Fostering a positive relationship is a win-win for our students and the business community,” says Willey.

Through a generous sponsorship from Hebron Savings Bank, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce purchased billboards and posters displaying the “Welcome College Students” message.

Clear Channel sponsored five prominent locations throughout Salisbury, Fruitland, and Princess Anne areas where the Welcome College Students message will appear beginning the week of August 16, 2021.

“This past year has been challenging for our college students and their families,” said Bill Chambers, SACC President/CEO. “Now more than ever, we warmly welcome them back to their collegiate institutions is a part of our community showing their appreciation. The Chamber and our member businesses believe that college students are a vital part of the community and want to help make this academic year the best for our students.”

In addition to the billboards, posters will be displayed throughout the college campuses and local businesses during the college move-in period. The Chamber asks that business owners with marquees display the message “Welcome College Students” from August 16 thru September 25, 2021.
