The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation received a $7,600 grant to support the Young Entrepreneurs Academy. The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is an innovative program that transforms local middle and high school students into real entrepreneurial successes.
“We are extremely grateful for the support and generosity of the Richard A. Henson Foundation as we launch the inaugural year of the YEA! program,” Kim Gillis, YEA! Co-Program Manager said. “The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to bring this groundbreaking afterschool program to our local students, as well as our community at large as we believe this program will help further promote and foster the spirit of entrepreneurship in our community.”

The YEA! program hosted by the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce takes students between the ages of 11 and 18 through the process of starting and launching a real business or social movement over the course of an academic year. By the end of the class, students own and operate fully-formed and functioning businesses, which may be carried on after their graduation from the program. The YEA! program will be hosted at the BEACON suite at Salisbury University in the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business starting in November. The 2015-2016 class will be the 1st YEA! class on the Eastern Shore.
