Salisbury, MD – The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce held the 6th Annual Ladies and Mixed Team 9 Hole Golf Challenge on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Green Hill Country Club in Quantico, MD. Pohanka of Salisbury presented this year’s tournament.
The event began in 2020 as a fun, no-pressure event for women business professionals to learn about golf and its benefits as a networking business tool. The Chamber encourages ladies who have never played golf to play, allows groups to share clubs, and creates an atmosphere that is not competitive (or intimidating!) The event is genuinely “Fun-For-Everyone” and has drawn new players yearly.
The first tournament began with just five teams and has since grown to twenty-two teams playing both nine-hole layouts at Green Hill Country Club.
The SACC President/CEO Bill Chambers welcomed players and introduced Ryan Johnson and Terri Charest of Avery Hall Insurance, and Wor-Wic President Dr. Deborah Casey, followed by Green Hill Golf Pro Rob McDonald, who shared the rules of play information on the several contest holes throughout the course.
To add to the day’s fun, players were given a chance to win a $30,000 prize towards purchasing a vehicle from Presenting Sponsor Pohanka Automotive with Hole-In-One contests on both the front and back nines!
Reception Sponsors Avery Hall Insurance Group and The Insurance Market greeted players at interactive holes and players tried their luck at the Putting Green Contest, sponsored by BBSI Salisbury. Tony Nichols gave expert tips on how to make the lengthy putt, and Neal Goris of the M&T Bank team took home the grand prize!
Players enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air, gathering afterwards to hear from Heather Wilson of GiveSendGo and Jesus Cruz of The Insurance Market at the start of the awards reception, sponsored by Avery Hall Insurance Group, GiveSendGo, JoJo’s Family Restaurant, The Insurance Market, and TidalHealth. Beverages were provided by Chesapeake Utilities, Comcast, Hebron Savings Bank, and Minuteman Press.
