Local technology firm hosts free breakfast workshop on October 15, 2019 at 9AM to help Salisbury businesses identify existing data breaches as part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
SALISBURY, MD, October 10, 2019—As part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, local technology firm IMPACT Technology Group will be hosting a complimentary Better Your Business breakfast workshop at their Salisbury office for local businesses. This interactive workshop will help local businesses identify what breaches already exist for them and their employees, as well as provide actionable tips that they can take to avoid future data breaches.
Security Engineers will be on-site conducting live Data Breach Reports for all attendees as part of their National Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign to help business owners identify what data hackers already have access to for their business, as well as their employees. This interactive workshop is designed to not only educate business owners on how to better protect their organization from malicious access, it is also intended to help local organizations understand the importance of protecting data from rising digital threats.
Justin Kelley, President and CEO of IMPACT Technology Group shares the importance that cybersecurity plays into today’s business culture, “Many business owners unknowingly assume that their data is secure. Often, when our security engineers present a Data Breach Report to a business owner, this is the first time that they’re learning that their data was already breached—which is terrible.
“What I hope attendees will take away from this educational breakfast workshop is how important it is to secure the data for not only yourself, but all of your employees. With recent studies showing that employee negligence accounts for 60% of leading causes for Data Breaches for small to medium business, I hope that this interactive exercise will serve as a great reminder that cybersecurity is something that we need to keep top of mind in today’s digital world and that it’s something you should be rallying your entire team around.”
According to Verizon’s recently published Data Breach Investigation Report (DBIR), it was uncovered that 43% of all Data Breaches target small to medium business owners. In fact, the recent Ponemon Institute SMB reports that 54% of small to medium business believe their organization is “Too Small” to be a target for malicious cyber-attacks. As cyber threats continue to rise, so will the target for small to medium businesses that do not have the internal resources to combat this growing issue.
Held every October, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) is a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online.
The complimentary Better Your Business Breakfast Workshop will be hosted on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 9AM -10AM at IMPACT Technology Group’s Salisbury office, located at 913 Snow Hill Road, Suite A. While tickets to the event are free business leaders and their employees, seats are limited, and early registration is recommended.
