Fruitland, MD – October 23, 2024 – On October 22, 2024 the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County’s new administrative offices and second ReStore thrift shop in Fruitland, MD. Attendees were able to tour the new office space and see and shop the new ReStore.

“Having expanded office space means room for our staff to grow. This is important because the housing crisis is only getting worse. With additional space, we can ensure we have the capacity to meet this challenge head-on,” says Molly Hilligoss, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County. “The second ReStore here in Fruitland means more revenue to expand our mission and increase our impact across Wicomico and Somerset Counties.”

Beginning November 4, the Fruitland ReStore will be expanding their hours to match the Salisbury ReStore hours, Monday through Saturday. The ReStore is actively accepting donations of clothing, jewelry, household items, knickknacks, small & large appliances, tools & hardware. Proceeds will go directly to Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County to support affordable homeownership and critical home repairs/aging in place programs in Wicomico and Somerset Counties.

Businesses and individuals wishing to support Habitat in its two new home builds on Grace Street in Salisbury are welcome to pledge support through either monetary or in-kind donations. A total of $300,000 is needed to build these two homes, which will serve two families with life- changing safe, affordable housing that they purchase at a low-cost, low-interest mortgage. Any member of the public interested in seeing the builds in progress may drive by the active construction site at 714 and 716 Grace Street in Salisbury.
