Two members of the Salisbury Jaycees recently were among more than 150 delegates representing parent organization JCI USA at the JCI World Congress in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
Chapter President Jess Kling and Past President Jason Rhodes attended the week-long conference, the largest annual worldwide gathering of Jaycees. They were joined by more than 2,000 members from approximately 125 countries representing six continents.
Highlights included keynote speakers including former International Space Station Commander Chris Hadfield; Montreal Canadiens President and Molson Coors Brewing Co. Chairman Geoff Molson; and RES PUBLICA Consulting Group Chairman Andrew Molson.
Kling and Rhodes attended the election of Dawn Hetzel of Lansing, MI, as the first U.S. president of JCI since 2007, as well as her inaugural ball. They also joined other JCI members at the organization’s annual international awards ceremony, featuring the world’s “Ten Outstanding Young People” for 2016.
Socially, the Salisbury representatives mingled with other JCI members at galas hosted by JCI Japan and JCI Netherlands, as well as a Halloween party and a “Global Village” event, celebrating Jaycees chapters worldwide. They also toured local landmarks, including Quebec’s Old Town and Citadelle, and a maple syrup farm.
Founded in 1940, the Salisbury Jaycees provides community service, social and leadership training opportunities for men and women ages 18-40 on the Eastern Shore.
