SALISBURY, MD – January 9, 2019- Residents on the Delmarva Peninsula dream of becoming homeowners and many do so with the help of Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc (SNHS). With 25 years of service to Salisbury and the surrounding community, hundreds of families have been positively affected by the organization.
From the redevelopment of an entire city block – Rose Street, to greeting clients in our office on a daily basis for financial counseling, SNHS has continued to be a major advocate for cultivating sustainable neighborhoods and encouraging self-reliance. In other efforts to further the agency’s mission, partnerships have been formed with the Parkside High School Career Technology Education Center of construct SNHS houses and with local lenders to offer products to families of all income levels, to name a few.
Much of these accomplishments over the past 25 years are thanks to Executive Director of SNHS, Cheryl Meadows. She has been with the agency since incorporation as a business on January 10, 1994 and receiving a charter from NeighborWorks America in July 1995. This continuity has created a strong bond with the city of Salisbury and now plans to branch out into offering more services in Somerset and Worcester Counties. Meadows says, “Our work is focused on the residents and neighborhoods of our communities and not on returns to our organization. We pride ourselves in providing programs and services that foster economically diverse neighborhoods.”
Those interested in celebrating 25 years of facilitating homeownership with SNHS can participate in activities throughout the year. The agency will be hosting a ribbon cutting and open house on March 27, 2019 at their new office in the Riverside Professional Center at 560 Riverside Dr. Suite A 102. Festivities will begin at 4:30 PM. Additional happenings include a new website launch, homebuyers expo in June during NeighborWorks Week and social media campaign, complete with giveaways.
