Salisbury, MD – The City of Salisbury Water Works is putting together a bit of a dynasty. Recently, a team from the City attended the Chesapeake Tri Association Conference at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City Maryland where they matched up against other regional operators in several competitions.
Among these competitions was the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Sectional honor of “Best Tasting Water” which Salisbury won for the second consecutive year.
According to Salisbury Water Works Director Cori Cameron, conference attendees went through the line and tasted and judged with a score of 1-10 on taste.
“There were nine groundwater systems from the Chesapeake section in the competition,” she said. “We will now take our winning water to the American Water Works ACE24 conference in Anaheim California next June to compete against all of the other AWWA sections.”
Salisbury Water Plant Operators also showcased their expertise in water quality by competing in the Top Ops Competition, a dynamic water knowledge challenge.
Furthermore, Salisbury also secured “Best Tasting Water” from Maryland Rural Water Toasting the Tap Water Testing Competition earlier this year. The winning water will compete at the Rural Water Rally in Washington, DC, in February 2024. The City’s facility also won that award in 2019, 2018, 1017, 1016, 1015, 2009 and 2008.
The team also boasts first-place awards for groundwater from the Chesapeake American Water Works Association / Chesapeake Water Environment Association Spring Meeting Annual Water Test Challenge in 2019 and 2017.
The City’s dedication to water quality remains unwavering, and these achievements underline the commitment to excellence.
