The Salisbury Young Professionals of SACC and the United Way’s Emerging Leaders are pleased to announce they will be partnering in 2016.

The SACC YP’s and United Way EL’s are both groups on the Lower Eastern Shore that are committed to the growth and development of local young professionals and the “young at heart” by engaging in networking, professional development and community outreach events.

“The partnership between the Chamber’s Young Professionals and United Way’s Emerging Leaders is another great example of maximizing our efforts & resources to benefit both our future leaders and our community,” Kathleen Mommé, Executive Director of the United Way said. “Our Lower Shore is blessed with hundreds of future leaders who want to expand their professional and community outreach and with the synergy this partnership will provide, I am confident we will be able to further expand our community impact to improve lives on the Lower Shore.”

“The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce is proud of the effort put forth on behalf of the Young Professionals and Emerging Leaders, recognizing and realizing the need to join forces for the betterment of our community and at the same time, affording each group the opportunity to further the growth and talent base in our community” Ernie Colburn, President and CEO of the Chamber said.

The groups plan to maximize the benefits of the individual memberships by making all networking, professional development and community outreach events available to members of either group. The SACC YP’s host monthly networking events, seminars and organize the annual Career Day event for 9th graders in Wicomico County to learn about various careers and the Taste of the Town event, which awards a top chef in the area each year. In addition to networking and professional development, the EL’s focus on volunteerism and fundraising efforts that help support United Way partner agencies. Most recently they have held successful guest bartending fundraisers at local establishments, participated in a wheelchair ramp build and hosted a holiday party for youth in Worcester County.

The SACC YP’s and United Way EL are planning on a kickoff event on Wednesday, January 20 at 6:00pm at Evolution Public House.
