Salisbury, MD — The Salisbury Zoo will welcome families for two evening holiday events in December, offering inclusive and festive experiences on the Zoo’s lighted winter trail.

The season begins with Zoothing Lights – A Sensory Friendly Experience on Saturday, December 6, from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Hosted in partnership with Salisbury University’s Psychology Department, the event is designed for guests with sensory differences and features softly lit pathways, a low-noise environment, a quiet visit with Santa in his Christmas Cottage, and a hands-on gift-making activity.

Accessibility considerations include:

  • Outdoor event after dark; dress for cool weather
  • Only red lighting permitted; red flashlight covers provided
  • Fully accessible pathways with staff available to assist

Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 for Zoo members. Parents and children under 2 are free. Space is limited.

The Zoo’s second holiday event, Rockin’ Around the Zoo, will be held December 13, 19, and 20 from 5–7 p.m. Guests can enjoy festive lights, live music, community caroling, crafts, cocoa, and a visit to Santa’s Christmas Cottage. Proceeds support the Salisbury Zoo’s animal care and conservation work.

Rockin’ Around the Zoo is a fun, unique event for the whole family to enjoy. Families help provide enrichment to our animals by caroling around to them while experiencing the Zoo in a different way at night,” said Jamie Nichols, Development Supervisor at the Salisbury Zoo.

Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 for Zoo members; children under 2 are free. Advance ticket purchase is encouraged. Red-light guidelines apply for both events.
