Salisbury, MD — The Salisbury Zoo is pleased to announce Vernon Powell Shoes as the presenting sponsor of the annual Zoo Stampede 5K Run/Walk, set for Saturday, May 2 at 9 a.m.
The Zoo thanks Vernon Powell Shoes for their generous support, which helps make this annual fundraiser possible. Proceeds from the race directly support the Zoo’s operations, conservation programs, and educational initiatives. The Zoo also appreciates the many local businesses and community partners who provide prizes and additional support each year.
The race takes runners and walkers on a course along the scenic Salisbury City Park, primarily on crushed-stone paths and through the Salisbury Zoo. Participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite animal-themed costumes, with a prize awarded for the most creative outfit.
This year’s event highlights the monarch butterfly, celebrating the Zoo’s involvement in the Monarch SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) program. Following the race, an educational community day will highlight the Zoo’s monarch conservation efforts.
