Salisbury, MD — The Salisbury Zoo is excited to invite the community to its annual Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will offer a full day of interactive activities, environmental education, and local vendors.
Sensory-Friendly Hour in Partnership with Salisbury University
To ensure an inclusive experience for all attendees, the event will feature a Sensory-Friendly Hour from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., in partnership with the Salisbury University Psychology Department. This special hour is designed for children and families with sensory sensitivities, providing a calmer, more relaxed environment before the zoo opens to the public for the main event. Families will have early access to exhibitors and vendors in a quieter setting, and students from Salisbury University will host crafts and activities tailored to sensory-friendly engagement.
During the Sensory-Friendly Hour and throughout the event, KultureCity sensory resources will be available to help ensure a comfortable experience for individuals with sensory sensitivities. These resources include sensory bags equipped with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and other calming aids to support visitors who may need them.
There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration for the Sensory-Friendly hour is requested to keep numbers appropriate: https://qrco.de/EarthDaySensory.
Throughout the day, attendees can explore a variety of educational booths hosted by local exhibitors, offering insights into wildlife conservation, sustainability, and ways to protect our planet. Craft vendors will showcase unique products, including pottery, jewelry, candles, paintings, wreaths, and more. Children can enjoy engaging discovery boxes filled with hands-on nature-related activities, encouraging them to learn about the environment in a fun and interactive way.
The event will also feature presentations at the stage near the Zoo’s Education Center, where local environmental experts will discuss topics ranging from conservation efforts to the importance of protecting natural habitats.
Mayor Randy Taylor emphasizes the importance of environmental education, stating, “Education is the first and arguably the most important step in sustainability. If we all do our part – all of us including the Earth are winners.”
Whether you’re looking to support local artisans, engage with environmental groups, or simply spend a day learning and exploring, the Salisbury Zoo’s Earth Day event has something for everyone.
The Salisbury Zoo is still accepting applications for vendors and sponsors interested in being part of this exciting event. This is a great opportunity to showcase your business, connect with the community, and support environmental education.
