Salisbury, MD — The Salisbury Zoo’s annual Zoo Stampede 5K, presented by Vernon Powell Shoes, will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 9 a.m. This year, the race has moved from its traditional Earth Day weekend to accommodate the fantastic growth of both the Zoo Stampede and other local events. The race will still kick off from the Zoo’s East Gate, located across from the Elks Golf Club, and will wind through the Zoo and along the scenic Salisbury City Park greenway.
This year’s event is themed around the Zoo’s iconic bison exhibit, with a portion of the event’s proceeds supporting its continued development. Participants are encouraged to unleash their creativity by dressing in their favorite animal costumes, with a prize awarded to the most imaginative costume.
Pricing and Registration:
- Adults (ages 13 & up): $25
- Children (12 & under): $15
- Zoo Members: $5 discount
- On-site registration (7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.): $30 for adults and $20 for children.
Registrants who sign up by April 15, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. will receive a tech shirt with their registration. All participants will enjoy post-race refreshments, including bagels, fruit, and beverages. Exciting door prizes, generously donated by Vernon Powell Shoes, will also be up for grabs.

- Overall male and female winners: Gift certificates for a free pair of shoes from Vernon Powell Shoes.
- Age group winners: Medals for the top three finishers in each age group. First-place winners will also receive a Vernon Powell Shoes gift card.
- Costume Contest Winner: Prize for the most creative animal costume.
Important Notes:
