Bishopville, MD — Seaside Toolbox Academy will host the 4th Annual Inside the Toolbox event on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 5:00–8:00 PM at the Seaside Toolbox Academy / Seaside Plumbing Complex, located at 11935 Worcester Highway in Bishopville. This free, family-friendly event invites students, jobseekers, and community members to explore skilled trades through hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and direct interaction with local professionals.

Inside the Toolbox is designed to introduce youth and adults to career pathways in the skilled trades while strengthening the local workforce pipeline. Attendees will have the opportunity to try real tools, learn from industry experts, and discover how hands-on careers can lead to long-term, sustainable employment.

New this year, the event will feature a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Seaside Toolbox Academy, celebrating the continued growth of its workforce development and community outreach programs. The evening will also include the first-ever Battle of the Trades, where teams of trade professionals compete in skill-based challenges, offering an exciting experience for spectators.

Additional highlights include:

  • Trade exploration stations hosted by local professionals
  • Food and refreshments
  • Prizes and giveaways
  • Opportunities to learn about apprenticeships, training programs, and career pathways

“Inside the Toolbox is about exposure, confidence, and possibility,” said Shaina Adkins, Executive Director of Seaside Toolbox Academy. “When people can see the trades up close, try the tools themselves, and talk directly with professionals, it changes how they view their future, and most importantly, it’s going to be a great time!”

Proceeds and sponsorship support from the event help fund Seaside Toolbox Academy’s Mobile Learning Lab, Healthy Homes Relief Fund, and continuing education and workforce development programs serving the Eastern Shore.

The Inside the Toolbox event is free and open to the public.
