Salisbury– Tom Stevenson, Director of Field Operations has confirmed that a second employee of the City of Salisbury, a member of the Department of Field Operations Sanitation/Collection Division, has tested positive for COVID-19. Both employees will remain in home isolation as mandated by the Wicomico County Health Department. All Department of Field Operations staff will be tested for COVID-19.
“The safety of our employees and residents continue to be my number one priority. We’re making every effort to maintain the current level of service. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate this difficult situation,” said Tom Stevenson, Director of Field Operations.
Essential workers have their temperatures taken at the beginning of each shift and are required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times when social distancing is not possible while they are on-duty. While these measures can help to minimize the spread of the virus, no method of protection is 100% effective at keeping people infection-free.
“Transparency during these times of uncertainty is of the utmost importance to the City of Salisbury,” shared City Administrator Julia Glanz. “Thank you to our Field Operations team for their quick response and commitment to the continuity of City services,” she added.
