Secondary Social Studies Teacher Position Available at Wicomico Day School

A family-friendly small independent K4 through grade 8 school in Salisbury, close to Maryland’s eastern shore, seeks a high energy, self-starting middle school social studies teacher for grades 6-8.  Average class size is 16.  Successful candidate is well trained in offering engaging instruction, designing inquiry-based activities, infusing technology and problem-solving into lessons, employing a variety of materials and strategies and working as an integral member of a cross-curricular middle school team.  He or she is tasked with expanding students’ capacity to read, think, and reflect on various social studies content areas including drawing comparisons and discussing current events.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Teach Social Studies courses for grades 6 through 8
  • Collaborate with middle school team
  • Forge social studies-like initiative e.g. debate, Model UN or National Geographic competition
  • Participate in school life either through coaching a sport or club
  • Serve as advisor to middle school students
  • Implement innovative methods, resources and technologies to engage students and enhance interest in history and social studies
  • Participate in faculty meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Administrative Head of School

Physical Education Teacher

A family-friendly small independent K4 through grade 8 school in Salisbury, close to Maryland’s eastern shore, seeks a high energy, self-starting physical education teacher for all grades.  Average class size is 16.  Successful candidate is well trained in offering engaging instruction, designing indoor and outdoor activities promoting fitness and sportsmanship, infusing technology and problem-solving into lessons, and working as an integral member of a cross-curricular team.  Students are expected to gain an appreciation of positive benefits of life-long exercise and physical activity.  Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required.  Candidate should send curriculum vitae, three letters of reference dated within the past year, valid clearances and transcripts to:
