Salisbury, MD – Celebrate Urban Artscapes during the September 3rd Friday event, set for Sept. 15 in Downtown Salisbury.
Artists and crafters will be set up along the streets, and there will be live music by Uprizing. Muralist Caroline Webber will be showcasing progress on a new Downtown Salisbury mural during the event. 3rd Friday runs from 5-8 p.m., and it’s free to attend.
Visit the Salisbury University Art Galleries Downtown to see “Release,” a curated group exhibition featuring a variety of mediums. Kids can make their own kaleidoscopes at the gallery.
Take the Public Art Walking Tour and check out painted utility boxes, steel sculptures, other sculptures and murals in Downtown Salisbury. New art will be featured in Downtown Salisbury soon, as eight artists have been chosen to paint selected power boxes.
Attendees can try their hand at making their own artwork with urban street printing, using materials provided by 3rd Friday to create prints with items such as manhole covers found outside.
Not far from Downtown Salisbury, visit Dancenter Salisbury to see the “First Look” performance by Jennifer D. Yackel/JDY Dance Theatre in a free 20-minute program at 6 and 7:30 p.m.
3rd Friday attendees can also head to Lurking Class Skate Shop starting at 7 p.m. for an all-ages night of indie pop music with a $15 cover. Stop into the Salisbury Art Space to see the “Painting Salisbury” exhibit, sponsored by the Whaley Family Foundation, and the “Itzel V. Aguilar: Nunca fue tu culpa (It was never your fault)” exhibition, which also features Brian B. Decker.
The winners of the Wicomico Goes Purple Door and Window Decorating Contest will also be announced during this month’s 3rd Friday.
