Salisbury, MD — SHORE UP, the community action agency for the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, is holding an Energy Week event in which representatives from Delmarva Power and Chesapeake Utilities will be present to answer customers’ questions and provide assistance with their accounts. The event will be held at the agency’s Energy Assistance Office, located at the rear of 500 Snow Hill Road, facing Washington Street. The event will take place October 24 through October 26, from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM each day.
SHORE UP is a provider of Energy Assistance Programs to assist low- and moderate-income households with electric and home heating bills, including assistance with past due balances. There are four types of assistance available:
Maryland Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) provides grants to assist with home heating bills.
Electric Universal Service Program (EUSP) provides financial assistance with electric bills.
Arrearage Retirement helps customers who have a past due bill of $300 or more. This assistance can only be received once every five years, with an exception if Arrearage Retirement was received in 2020 or 2021.
Utility Service Protection Program (USPP) protects low-income households from utility shut off and establishes a monthly budget plan for consistent payments.
