Six students from the SkillsUSA chapter in the Parkside High School Department of Career & Technology Education won gold medals by finishing 1st in the SkillsUSA Maryland State Championships April 13-14. They will now compete in this summer’s national SkillsUSA competition in Louisville, Ky.

Students from a variety of programs at Parkside CTE tested their skills against students from around Maryland in the state SkillsUSA competition. Ten Wicomico students finished in the top 3 in the state in their skill areas, and the six 1st-place finishers qualified for the national competition.

Students from all four high schools participated in the championships, and medalists represent three of our high schools. All of the state gold medalists are Parkside students.

High Performance Manufacturing students did Wicomico and Parkside CTE proud in the CNC contests, winning three gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal. The 2018 state results also highlight the excellence of students in our Project Lead the Way engineering program: Two PLTW students won gold medals in the Electronics Technology and Mobile Electronics Installation contests.
