SALISBURY, MD—Salisbury University has risen in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 “Best Colleges” rankings, once again placing among the nation’s top institutions.
In the northern region, SU was ranked 45th overall in the “Best Regional Universities” category and placed 16th among the region’s “Top Public Schools” — up from last year’s ranking. The category includes nearly 600 institutions nationwide, split among four geographic areas: North, South, Midwest, and West.
SU also again was lauded as one of the “Best Colleges for Veterans,” and for having one of the “Best Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs.” The publication also noted the University as one of the “Top Performers on Social Mobility.”
“We are proud to see Salisbury University recognized once again among the nation’s leading public universities,” said SU President Carolyn Ringer Lepre. “Our rise in the ‘Top Public Schools’ category reflects the dedication of our faculty and staff, the accomplishments of our students, and our commitment to providing an education that is both transformative and deeply connected to the communities we serve.”

Other publications also have taken note of what SU has to offer. In recent months, SU was named among The Best 392 Colleges for the 28th consecutive year by The Princeton Review, one of “The Best Colleges in America” by Money, and one of “America’s Top Colleges” by Forbes.
Washington Monthly also has named SU among the region’s “Best Colleges for Your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars” institutions.
