Salisbury, MD – Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) in Kenya, Africa, recently hosted a delegation of students and faculty from Salisbury University as part of an academic exchange program aimed at enriching the educational experience at KAFU.

Led by Dr. Fulbert Namwamba, SU professor of environmental studies and geography and geosciences, the 24-member cohort participated in a two-week academic visit to broaden global perspectives in their respective fields, including nursing, social work, environmental science, earth science and geography.

Nursing and social work students were welcomed by KAFU’s School of Health Sciences for an exploration of its training model and clinical sites, gaining insights into those fields. The SU visitors also had the opportunity to meet and interact with KAFU students.

In addition to the student exchange, Namwamba will join KAFU’s faculty during a six-month sabbatical leave from SU beginning during the spring semester, further enriching the university’s partnership with SU.

“Along with University of Cape Coast, in Cape Coast, Ghana, KAFU is SU’s second university partner in Africa and represents SU’s growing commitment to African partnerships,” said Dr. Brian Stiegler, SU assistant provost for international education.

Dr. Ogodo, M.J. Nandi, acting vice chancellor for KAFU, expressed confidence that its collaboration with SU will reinforce the university’s mission of teaching, training, and research.

“This academic exchange program is a testament to KAFU’s commitment to fostering international partnerships for the betterment of its academic community,” he said.
