SU’s 59th Biannual Senior Art Exhibition

Salisbury University art majors showcase their works during SU’s 59th biannual Senior Art Exhibition, “Synergy.”

The two-part event opens with a display by 11 graphic design students November 19-December 8 in the University Gallery of Fulton Hall. An awards reception is 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 30. A related talk by a visiting graphic designer is 5:30 p.m. Thursday, November 29, in Conway Hall Room 153.

The second part of the show, featuring works by eight fine arts students, is November 28-December 15 at SU Art Galleries Downtown (SUAGD). An awards reception is 5-7 p.m. Friday, December 7.

The exhibits depict not only the diversity of art majors and mediums practiced, but the individualistic styles and techniques the students have acquired at SU and the synergistic effect represented by their coming together.

After graduating, many of the students represented in the exhibits plan to enter careers including interior design, graphic work, advertising, photography, education and art therapy, among others. Their portfolios, resumes and business cards will be available at each reception.

The displays are part of the Senior Exhibition course taught by Professor Jinchul Kim. The goal of the class is to summarize the students’ art experiences at SU by having them lead the planning and execution of a professional art exhibit.

At the shows, each student uses a portion of the galleries to display their work, which is based on their specific art track and encompasses an overarching theme of their choice. During the awards receptions, the artists present their portfolios, resumes and business cards.

University Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, noon-4 p.m. Friday-Saturday. SUAGD hours are noon-6 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, noon-4 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

Sponsored by the Art Department and Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts, admission is free and the public is invited.
