SVN-Miller 2015 Commercial Real Estate Forum Draws Large Crowd

2015 Sperry Van Ness Forum

Sperry Van Ness – Miller Commercial Real Estate with offices in Salisbury, MD, Annapolis, MD, Bethesda, MD, Seaford, DE, Lewes, DE, and Wilmington, DE recently held their 2015 Commercial Real Estate Forum at the Perdue School of Business in Salisbury, MD. The event was focused on providing relevant information to real estate investors regarding economics, community development and market statistics.
The event drew over 130 commercial real estate investors, and was sponsored by W.R. McCain & Associates, BB&T, Twilley, Rommel & Stephens, Real Estate Title and Escrow, Real Property Services, Paradise Energy Solutions and Delmarva Power. The forum featured Guest Speaker Jason Broadwater of Revenflo and Keynote Speaker Anirban Basu of Sage Policy Group. Jason Broadwater’s presentation focused on places, millennials and the innovation economy. He said about his speech, “The millennial generation, the revitalizing downtowns and urban districts, and the innovation slice of traditional industries…all these threads are weaving a new world in economic development and commercial real estate. What’s a small city to do?”
Keynote speaker Anirban Basu returned to the forum for the fourth year and summarized his presentation by saying, “I focused on the global, national and local economies, with considerable attention given to the performance of labor markets, which directly influences net absorption, real estate valuations and ultimately commercial construction.”
Cox said, “We are seeing the true resilience of our economy as the commercial real estate sales volume in our area was up 44% from 2013. Our market is recovering and we expect that to continue through 2015, but we still have a lot of work to do and we will continue our efforts to turn bad news into new opportunities.” Attendees had very positive feedback about the forum: “It was a great event and the speakers had me sitting on the edge of my seat.” “I enjoyed the opportunity to network with others in the commercial real estate field.” “It was a fantastic information packed day.”
