** How Will YOU Be Paying for College?
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 10TH The Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council is proud to once again announce the opening of our scholarship application process for the 2014-2015 school year.  Listed below, you will find a some of the basic guidelines for each scholarship.  Differing amounts of financial assistance will be awarded, according to qualifications and subject to availability.

** Herbert D. Brent Arts Scholarship
Who is eligible?
Anyone who is either a high school senior or full time college student (12 credit hours per semester minimum), you must be enrolled in formal academic study leading to a certificated or degree in the visual, performing, playwrighting, media or communication arts (minor or major).  The applicant MUST reside in Wicomico County, attend college in Wicomico County, or be a legal resident of Wicomico County who is attending college elsewhere.

What is the application process?
* Go to the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council website (www.GetSWAC.org (http://www.getSWAC.org) ) and download the application
* Applications must include two sealed letters of recommendation and an academic transcript
* All applications must be submitted to the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council office at 104A Poplar Hill Ave., or mailed to P.O. Box 884, Salisbury, MD 21803 on or before deadline
* All applicants will be reviewed by the Arts Council Scholarship Committees at a 20-minute audition/interview
* Read the application guidelines carefully because there are specific requirements for the arts disciplines
* Deadline for applications is March 10, 2014
* Auditions will be held March 29, 2014

** Paul S. Hyde Arts Scholarship
Who is eligible?
Anyone who is either a high school senior or full time college student (12 credit hours per semester minimum), you must be enrolled in formal academic study leading to a certificate or degree in the playwrighting or performing arts AND be a graduate of the Wicomico County Public School system.  The applicant MUST reside in Wicomico County, attend college in Wicomico County, or be a legal resident of Wicomico County who is attending college elsewhere.

** Douglas I. Smith Memorial Grant for Youth Arts Experiences

Who is eligible?
Children, parents, and youth leaders who are interested in voice or instrumental music, acting, visual arts, or dance.  For those struggling with limited resources, this grant could be used for school-aged individuals under the age of 16.  Funds may also be used program leaders to provide arts education for a youth arts group.

What is the application process for an individual or group?
* Prepare a written description of the project, projected outcome, personal results, and proven financial need
* Find references, one in your proposed field, and one personal
* Event program mention of support grant and other SWAC acknowledgements as determined
* Notify the board members of the event date
* There is no limit to the number of times you can apply!
