SWED Offers up To $10,000 Grants For Wicomico Small Businesses Impacted By Covid -19

SALISBURY, MD (June 29, 2020) – Salisbury-Wicomico Economic Development, Inc. (SWED) announced its second program to assist small businesses in Wicomico County, Maryland. With funds provided by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES), grants up to $10,000 are available for businesses in Wicomico County that have been significantly impacted by the Coronavirus-19 (CV-19) pandemic. Among other qualifications, grants are targeted at three months operating expenses for businesses with twenty-five or fewer employees. The application can be found online at www.swed.org beginning Wednesday, July 1. The application period concludes on Friday, July 10, 2020. Funds may be used for eligible expenses between March 1, 2020 and December 30, 2020. SWED anticipates strong demand and hopes to provide a boost to hundreds of small businesses throughout Wicomico County that have been impacted by the CV-19 pandemic.

The organization is concluding its first program which offered similar funding for those Wicomico County businesses that applied for funding through the state’s Maryland Small Business COVID-19 Emergency Relief Grant Fund but were not funded due to a quick depletion of program funds. SWED contacted each of the approximate one hundred fifty companies and to date has awarded approximately one hundred grants totaling $1 million.
