Salisbury, MDMaryland residents may qualify for Endow Maryland Tax Credit Program which rewards donors who make charitable gifts to their local community foundation with a 25 percent tax credit on state taxes. Additionally, donors may also be eligible for a federal tax deduction.

In 2025, charitable gifts of $500 or more to the CFES Community Needs Endowment funds or any of the Field of Interest funds, are eligible for a state tax credit. These funds held at CFES focus on supporting the most urgent needs in the community and provide maximum flexibility for meeting those needs over time. In fiscal 2024, these funds at the Community Foundation provided more than 200 grants totaling nearly $700,000 that benefited areas such as the arts, youth services, emergency food and housing, health initiatives, the environment and more.

“Your investment in our community will make a difference now and for generations to come, addressing our region’s most pressing needs,” said Erica Joseph, CFES President. “Since Endow Maryland tax credits are limited, we urge you to call the Foundation about this opportunity or speak with your financial advisor,” she added.

The Community Foundation’s Lower Shore Scholarship Fund is another unique opportunity which qualifies donors for the Endow Maryland Tax Credit. Donors can support scholarships which help students at local colleges. Each year Wor-Wic Community College, Salisbury University, and University of Maryland Eastern Shore will receive equal grants from the Community Foundation to support students who are residents of the tri-county region. Each school will be empowered to prioritize recipient selection to meet emerging student and workforce needs.
