SALISBURY, MD. & SEAFORD, DE. — TidalHealth Primary and Specialty Care is pleased to announce that Alvin Harmon and Brenda Williams are its Team Members of the Month for April 2025.
Alvin Harmon, Chaplain, TidalHealth Palliative Medicine
Harmon was nominated for demonstrating the values of accountability, community, quality and service:
”In a healthcare environment, it is all too easy for patients and their families to experience frustration, confusion, or even despair. It’s often easier for people to voice concerns or complaints than to express appreciation for the kindness and care they receive. However, every once in a while, a compassionate individual stands out, not just meeting expectations, but exceeding them in ways that leave a lasting impact on others. Alvin Harmon, our Chaplain for TidalHealth Palliative Medicine, is one such individual whose actions and heart for service exemplify the qualities we should all strive for.
This week, a patient’s family member commended Alvin for his exceptional kindness during one of the most challenging moments of their lives. This unsolicited praise speaks volumes about Alvin’s dedication to his role and the profound effect he has on the families he serves. In a time of crisis, when emotions are heightened, tensions run deep, and difficult decisions must be made, Alvin rises above to provide not only spiritual support, but also a steady, empathetic presence that inspires hope and clarity.
Yesterday, Alvin was called to assist a family navigating difficult circumstances. Their situation was fraught with emotional turmoil and uncertainty, leaving them grappling with tension and difficult decisions. Alvin stepped in with unmatched grace, using his calming influence to help the family come together, process their emotions, and find a way forward. His ability to listen with an open heart, acknowledge their unique struggles, and guide them through such an overwhelming moment speaks to the depth of his compassion and expertise.
What sets Alvin apart is not only his ability to provide spiritual support, but his gift for giving families hope, strength, and clarity at a time when confusion can easily overshadow their ability to act in the best interest of their loved one. He created an environment where this family could communicate openly, heal emotionally, and make the decisions that would best honor their loved one’s needs and wishes. His presence was a beacon of light in a dark and challenging moment, and he has provided these types of transformational experiences countless times for families in need.
Alvin’s unwavering dedication to his calling is reflected in his daily work, but this particular experience serves as a shining example of why he is deserving of Team Member of the Month. He consistently goes above and beyond his duties, demonstrating compassion, patience, and wisdom in everything he does. Alvin is an invaluable member of the TidalHealth Palliative Medicine team, and his work directly influences the well-being of both our patients and their families.
Alvin, your actions are a testament to the incredible difference one person can make in the lives of others. Thank you for being the guiding hand this family needed during their crisis. Your kindness, patience and care are immeasurable, and we are deeply grateful for everything you do. You truly make a difference in the lives of those you touch, and we are proud to have you as a part of our team.”
Brenda Williams, Medical Assistant, TidalHealth Cardiology in Seaford
Williams was nominated for demonstrating the values of accountability, quality and service:
“From the moment you step into the Medical Assistant (MA) workstation at TidalHealth Cardiology in Seaford, it’s clear — something has changed. The team works quietly, yet the energy is unmistakable: a kind of hurried happiness fills the air. It’s a remarkable shift from just a year ago.
That transformation is thanks in large part to Brenda Williams. Over the past year, Brenda has worked tirelessly to train new MA team members while uplifting the morale of seasoned team members. Integrating new team members and providers is never easy, but Brenda has taken on the challenge with grace and determination.
She goes above and beyond, not only providing one-on-one support to new hires but also continuously motivating the entire MA team to stay positive and energized. Her leadership and dedication have reshaped the work environment into one of collaboration and enthusiasm. Without being asked, she took it upon herself to lead a remarkable transformation. Thank you, Brenda!”
