Habitat for Humanity is proud to announce the City of Salisbury’s placement of two trash cans at the intersection of Church street and Naylor. The trash bins will be located out front and behind the convenient store at the intersection. They will be picked up every Friday by the City. Habitat for Humanity and the city of Salisbury will be working together in observing how the local community utilizes the public waste bins in a thirty-day trial. Further discussions on how to execute a more permanent solution for trash and possible recycling will be determined after.
It has been our mission to beautify the Church street neighborhood. With the help of the community we will promote the usage of trash cans in the neighborhood. Keeping a neighborhood clean is vital for the physical and spiritual appeal of the area. Neighborhood revitalization is imperative in the development of a community.
About Habitat for Humanity: Wicomico County Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1987. Since then, Habitat has built 66 homes, completed dozens of neighborhood revitalization projects and is currently supporting two community gardens in the Church Street Neighborhood. Habitat also owns 16 lots and/or houses in that neighborhood that will be developed/rehabbed and sold to partner families. With over 30 years of service, 10,000 volunteers, and seven million dollars invested in the community, Habitat continues to improve living conditions for low income families and address the “aging in place” issues faced by inner city homeowners.
