Salisbury, MD — Before heading into holiday break each year, The Salisbury School continues a cherished campus tradition: Give and Receive Day, a schoolwide service initiative that pairs Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School students in a shared season of giving. This year, students will support several programs and personnel connected to TidalHealth, with donations collected and organized through Thursday, Dec. 18, and delivered on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025.

As part of the initiative, students will contribute to three distinct TidalHealth-connected efforts:

  • 3rd Grade and 10th Grade: Collecting items for Wyatt’s Warriors
  • 4th Grade and 9th Grade: Collecting toys for Brooke’s Toy Closet
  • All four grades: Collaborating to create Holiday Nurse Care Packages for nursing staff

On Friday, Dec. 19, representatives from TidalHealth will speak with Salisbury School students about the impact of generosity and community partnership. Students will then deliver the collected donations to TidalHealth.

“We love taking time with our students to reflect on our blessings and share holiday joy with others,” said Dr. Andrea Vandiver, Assistant Head of School at The Salisbury School. “Give and Receive Day is a treasured tradition our students look forward to each year, and it’s meaningful to see older and younger students come together around empathy and service.”

TidalHealth expressed gratitude for the student-led effort and the ways it supports patients and care teams during the holidays. “The holiday season is a time to reflect on what we have, and to give what we can to others,” said Jessica Hales, TidalHealth Foundation President and the health system’s Chief Philanthropy Officer. “Through this long-cherished tradition, Salisbury School students experience the value of empathy and the joy of helping those in need. We look forward to sharing with them in the joy these donations will bring to Brooke’s Toy Closet, our youngest patients, and our dedicated nursing staff.”
