Salisbury, MD – To Kick-off National Salvation Army Week, The Salvation Army Lower Eastern Shore will  host its first Community Fun Day on May 11, 2024, from 9am-2pm. This free event will be held outdoors on the football  field with local community outreach vendors, food, and activities. This event will include a bounce house, photo booth, dunking booth, obstacle course, games, prizes and fun for the whole family.

“Community Day is meant to be an outpouring of love. By hosting this event, we will be able to display resources that  are available to those who need it most. The Salvation Army has always been a safe place for members of the  community and their families to gather, celebrate, and have fun. We are grateful for partners such as The Community Foundation of the Lower Eastern Shore that immediately offered a sponsorship toward this event.” said Captain Angel  Simmons, Salisbury Corp Officer.

National Salvation Army week will be celebrated May 11-17, 2024. This week is set aside to remind or inform of the  comprehensive nature of the services we provide to help people in need in your community. These are your neighbors  — your brothers and sisters. National Salvation Army Week was declared by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954,  and since then it has served as an annual reminder of the vast scope of our services and ways you can help.

This year during National Salvation Army week we will be visiting First Responders and non-profits in our community to  say thank you, we will have specials in our Family Thrift Store, trivia contests, and have a special treat for our Boys &  Girls club members. In addition, we will host a “Thoughtful Thursday Meet & Greet” on May 16. This is a great opportunity for the public to hear about how The Salvation Army is impacting lives of people on the Eastern Shore.

“National Salvation Army Week presents a wonderful opportunity for us to let the community know more about the  work of The Salvation Army in our community” said Lt. Shawn Simmons, Salisbury Corp officer. “The Salvation Army has  experienced heightened need and has been privileged to support so many in our area. We invite everyone to join us as  we celebrate National Salvation Army Week.”
