The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and its members were delighted to join on Thursday, August 17, 2023, Shaina Bounds and Heather Hall in the ribbon-cutting celebration of The Ugly Pie’s new location at 829 E. Willam Street in Salisbury.
Well known by locals who fancy quality pies, The Ugly Pie has been a Salisbury staple since 2014 when owners Shaina and Heather started baking pies for family and friends before Thanksgiving out of their homes, and within a couple of months, realized they needed a much larger location. They needed to expand a couple of times before they discovered a new place that would allow them to have more space, maximize productivity, and meet their increased order volume. They currently provide items to 14 different businesses around the Eastern Shore and their local clients. One cool feature about this new location is that as you walk towards the left, you have a firsthand view of the staff working and baking!
Shaina welcomed the crowd and said, “We are thankful for every bit of support over the past nine years. We want to especially thank our team, who does everything by hand and from scratch. We started with five flavors, made in our own personal kitchens, and we are now pushing to more than 80 flavors, including our quiches, and we are venturing into savory pies next year. Because we do everything from scratch and by hand, we ask for two days’ notice because we are doing it out of the care of our hearts.”
Guests enjoyed appetizers provided by The Mad Hatters Café, and, of course, sampled delicious pies that included apple, blueberry, crème brulé, key lime pie, coconut, and chocolate.
