Salisbury, MD — The ALS Association has recertified the ALS Clinic at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional as a Recognized Treatment Center®, a distinction that recognizes TidalHealth’s ability to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care for individuals diagnosed with the progressive neurological disease commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

To achieve recognition as a Recognized Treatment Center®, the clinic at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional must meet and maintain a set of established standards. These include a multidisciplinary team of nursing and allied health professionals dedicated to ALS patients; a neurologist with specialized expertise in evaluating and treating people living with the disease; a strong relationship with the ALS Association; and an ongoing commitment to quality improvement initiatives.

“This recognition reflects the dedication and expertise of our entire ALS Clinic team,” said Robert Paschall, DO, neurologist and medical director of TidalHealth Peninsula Regional’s ALS Clinic. “Their commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality, multidisciplinary care ensures our patients receive the support they need at every stage of their journey.”

TidalHealth Peninsula Regional has operated its ALS Clinic since 2009 and treats approximately 100 patients each year. In 2018, it became the first hospital in Maryland to earn the designation and has maintained that recognition through continued excellence in patient care.
