Berlin, MD — TidalHealth Atlantic earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. This is the third consecutive reporting period in which the Berlin hospital received an “A” grade.
“Patient safety is built through consistency and teamwork, supported by a culture that fosters learning and a relentless commitment to getting better each day,” said Don Owrey, MBA, FACHE, president of TidalHealth Atlantic. “Achieving an ‘A’ rating multiple times in a row reflects the commitment our team members bring to patient safety every day, and we’re incredibly proud of the work they do to keep our patients and communities safe.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems that hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that TidalHealth Atlantic is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
