Ocean Pines, MD – TidalHealth Delmarva Endoscopy Center in Ocean Pines, Md. has earned the prestigious “Best” status in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report ratings of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) in the specialty of Colonoscopy & Endoscopy.
This recognition places the center among the top 16% of all ASCs nationwide, highlighting its exceptional commitment to high-quality care, patient safety, and innovation in the field. U.S. News & World Report evaluated over 4,300 ASCs across the United States, assessing key specialties, including Colonoscopy & Endoscopy, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics & Spine, and Urology.
Ambulatory surgery centers were evaluated based entirely on objective, risk-adjusted measures of their patients’ outcomes, including how successfully they avoided complications, ER visits, unplanned hospitalizations and other undesirable outcomes. To ensure fair comparisons among ambulatory surgery centers, the analysis accounted for each patient’s pre-existing conditions and other risk factors.
Of the 2,031 colonoscopy & endoscopy ASCs evaluated, only 259—including the TidalHealth Delmarva Endoscopy Center—received the coveted “high performing” rating and earned “Best” status. In Maryland, just 11 earned that same award, and the Ocean Pines center was the sole recipient of the honor on the Eastern Shore. The ratings were generated from Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) claims for services rendered during calendar years 2021 through 2023.
“We are incredibly honored to receive the prestigious ‘high performing’ rating from U.S. News & World Report and be recognized among the top 259 colonoscopy and endoscopy ASCs nationwide. This distinction is a testament to the dedication of our entire team, from our skilled healthcare professionals to our administrative staff, who work together to ensure the highest standards of patient care,” said Jerrold Canakis, MD, gastroenterologist and Medical Director of the TidalHealth Delmarva Endoscopy Center. “I am privileged to work with a team that consistently strives to meet and exceed the benchmarks in quality and safety. Advances in medical practice have revolutionized the delivery of care, allowing many procedures once requiring inpatient stays to now be safely performed in outpatient settings. TidalHealth Delmarva Endoscopy Center has embraced this shift, offering patients a state-of-the-art environment where they can return home on the same day as their procedure, recovering comfortably in familiar surroundings.
