UMES, Salisbury Chamber Partner to Salute Veterans Nov. 13

Princess Anne, MD – Retired Army Lt. Col. Bob M. Dixon will be the featured guest speaker for this year’s Salute to Veterans Gala event co-hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Wednesday, Nov. 13 event pays tribute to local military veterans and begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception at the Richard A. Henson Center on the UMES campus, followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

Dixon, who served in the United States Army from 1988-2010, has also worked in the White House as Presidential Communications Officers to Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Dixon also has experience working in higher education including at Wor-Wic Community College as the Veterans Upward Bound Coordinator and as an adjunct workforce instructor. Dixon currently serves as a Workforce Product Development Coordinator at Germanna Community College in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

The event will be emceed by current Maryland Secretary of Housing & Community Development and former Salisbury, Maryland Mayor Jake Day.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Silver Star Scholarship Fund to support first-year students who are honorably discharged veterans, a child of a veteran or a child of a service member killed in action.
