United Way Annual Meeting

United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore recently celebrated the generosity of community members at the “70th Annual Meeting and Community Leaders Celebration” at University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne.

Over 200 community members and nearly 70 local organizations representing Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset and Dorchester Counties attended, providing United Way an opportunity to recognize members of the community who exhibit exceptional generosity for Lower Shore residents in need. Highlights of the meeting included, an official announcement of United Way surpassing the 2013 Campaign goal of $1.6 million, an awards ceremony, installation of incoming 2014-2015 United Way Board of Directors and a special recognition of past United Way Board Presidents.

President Elect, Pete Bugas shared, “Once again, community members have strongly supported our United Way to be the one single group to increase the capacity for Lower Shore residents to care for one another. Surpassing the $1.6 million campaign goal means that a senior citizen will not go hungry, an at-risk child will be guided on the right path by a mentor and a veteran will receive critical health care.”
