United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore and Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Hosts Business After Hours Event

Salisbury, MD – United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore (UWLES) and Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) were pleased to co-host Business After Hours on Thursday, February 13, 2025.  Guests enjoyed lite fare by Dinner Express and Modern Graze, won door prizes, and supported a 50/50 raffle to benefit the SACC Foundation’s Wor-Wic Scholarship Fund.

While networking with SACC members and UWLES staff, board, and advisory council members, attendees learned how UWLES mobilizes the community into action to create lasting change.  “We’re proud to celebrate 80 years of local impact,” shared UWLES President/CEO Pam Gregory.  “We and our partners focus on improving health & wellbeing, helping youth realize their full potential, and creating a stronger financial future for every generation.  Our donors and volunteers make it possible for our direct programs, partnerships and collaborations to lift up more than 1 in 3 neighbors annually,” stated Gregory, noting that more resources and funding are needed to help our community thrive.

In addition to sharing ways for businesses of any size to empower employees through workplace campaigns, volunteering and sponsorships, UWLES shared about Over the Edge for ALICE® – a new, exciting fundraiser where thrill-seekers of all ages can raise funds to rappel down The Ross on May 2nd in downtown Salisbury.  Guests learned about the needs and challenges over 43% of local households face as ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed), the Lower Shore neighbors who are working hard but struggling monthly to make ends meet.  Guests were assured that all dollars UWLES raises throughout the year help neighbors across Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties.
