Salisbury, Md. — Prepare to see an abundance of softball uniforms on the Eastern Shore, as the United States Specialty Sports Association’s (USSSA) Eastern Nationals returns July 15-Aug. 2.
The three-week event will bring over 320 girls softball teams from 12 states to Wicomico and Worcester Counties and the Town of Ocean City.
The tournament will generate an estimated economic impact of over $17 Million.
The success of the event is due in part to the Mid-Atlantic Amateur Sports Alliance (MAASA), a formal sports marketing partnership between Ocean City, Wicomico County and Worcester County.
“This event is a major economic engine for our region and a powerful example of collaboration between the MAASA partners, which is critical to host an event of this scale,” said Justin Polizzi, tourism manager for Wicomico County. “Community support continues to grow as well, as we work to enhance the off-field experience for everyone involved.”
Opening ceremonies will take place July 15 at Salisbury University and July 22 in Ocean City. See attached invitation for details. Media is encouraged to attend.
