Salisbury, MD – March 14, 2025– Vehicles for Change Delmarva recently awarded cars to three deserving families in the Salisbury community, continuing its mission to help individuals and families escape the cycle of poverty through access to reliable transportation. The three recipients, all Salisbury residents, received Hondas as part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to support those in need.

Two of the vehicles were generously donated by Sandy Angello, VP & Dealer Operator of Pohanka of Salisbury, for the event. Each awardee was selected for their dedication to improving their own lives and the lives of their families.

One recipient is a graduate of Vehicles for Change’s Full Circle Auto Training Program, now working at a local Pep Boys, another is employed at Pohanka, and the third is a mother of two who works at a local CVS. Notably, two of the recipients had previously been incarcerated, showing the power of second chances.

“We are thrilled to be able to help these families,” said Gary Mitchell, Executive Director of Vehicles for Change Delmarva. “These individuals are becoming neighbors to all of us, and now they serve as inspiration for others who will follow in their footsteps. Programs like this are so important in empowering people to take control of their future and be leaders in their communities.”

Marty Schwartz, President of Vehicles for Change, founded the nonprofit with a vision to close the wealth gap in the region. “Living on the Eastern Shore often means limited access to reliable transportation,” Schwartz explained. “Without a car, it’s nearly impossible for people to get to work or after-school activities, and that’s what keeps many families trapped in generational poverty. These cars are a crucial tool that can help break the cycle and provide families with the opportunity to succeed.”

Vehicles for Change’s mission is centered on providing more than just transportation. By offering affordable cars, coupled with job training in the automotive field, the organization creates pathways to self-sufficiency, helping individuals and families access opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have.

With this event, the organization’s commitment to making a lasting impact on the Salisbury community.
